Cumbria u3a Network are pleased to announce their

THIRD ENERGY CONFERENCE

to be held on Friday 22 April 2022 at Rheged, Penrith

Come and hear up to date information about how we might meet our energy needs without compromising the future of the planet. We have an exciting programme with papers on Zero Carbon Cumbria, developing sustainable transport in Cumbria, the progress local farming is making in reducing its environmental impact, how the NHS is progressing sustainable healthcare and decarbonising power generation. The day concludes with a member of the Government’s Committee on Climate Change examining what the UK must do to meet its net zero targets and a review of COP26 from a former IPCC adviser.

Because of uncertainties about Covid and what the situation will be in April 2022, we have restricted numbers of delegates to 100. Early booking is advised and places will be filled on  first come, first served basis. Full details of the conference arrangements, booking form and the programme are attached.

Please note that the closing date for booking is 25th February 2022

A very successful Open Day was held at Penrith Rugby Club on Monday November 22nd.

70 Members and 22 New Members attended and celebrated 25 years of Penrith and North Lakes u3a with a glass of Fizz and a celebration cake (see photo). It was good to see some founder members who gave the event extra kudos, and added to the convivial atmosphere.

There was the usual tea/coffee and biscuits, this year served in the adjacent room to encourage social distancing due to the Covid pandemic.

We were fortunate to have background music provided by 2 members of the Folk Group which was much appreciated and helped to provide a happy and relaxed atmosphere.
