This group was formed in 2012. We meet fortnightly on Thursdays between 10am and 12 noon in the small room at Cliburn Vilage Hall.
Sessions cost between £1 – £2 depending on how many people turn up.
The group is essentially a workshop. We play Folk Music from any country, mostly British Isles. It is not suitable for absolute beginners but any instrument is welcome. And we sing too!
We start by playing the previous week’s tunes. We learn a new tune from the music (most folk tunes are not copyright) or by ear. Anyone can bring a tune along for us to play; otherwise the co-ordinator provides one. There is a break half way through for tea and biscuits.
We finish by revisiting whatever we want, or anyone can play a solo if they want, before we decide which tunes we are going to practise for the following week.
Contact either Philip Helm ( 01768 88797) or Sheila Stuart ( 016974 72734) if you are interested in joining this group.
