DR THEO WESTON ON LOCAL EMERGENCY SERVICES

DR THEO WESTON ON LOCAL EMERGENCY SERVICES

Dr Theo Weston gave an excellent illustrated talk today with 70 members participating, a record number for our monthly Zoom meetings. His subject was local emergency services, embracing BEEP, Mountain Rescue and the air ambulances, particularly the GNAAS. We heard that between 30, 000 and 40, 000 people are seriously injured in Britain each year, many of whom die as a consequence of inadequate or delayed treatment, so the role of such services is vital in helping more to survive…

EDEN BAROQUE, 17 DECEMBER, 2020

EDEN BAROQUE, 17 DECEMBER, 2020

Katharine May and John Sanderson of Eden Baroque moved into our area, attracted by the landscape in which they enjoy fell-walking and cycling, and have become a significant part of the local musical scene very rapidly, establishing their own ‘Music Barn’ at Salkeld Dykes where John Upson’s Music Appreciation group enjoyed their wonderful recital last year. With a father who was an engineer, Roger Leech’s early family experiences in Africa and elsewhere sparked his interest in rocks and minerals. His own career was as a scientist, initially focusing…
