This group is very informal, it has been meeting regularly for some years on the 4th Friday of each month for visits organised by and for our own members. Since the coronavirus pandemic lockdown began we have suspended our meetings and instead we have been communicating by email. We hope to restart meetings, in accordance with the latest government regulations, on 23 April 2021.
Members have been recording sightings they have made in accordance with the Covid-19 regulations and one of our members has been collating them into a weekly list. We have also been sharing reports of bird behaviour and photographs. At the end you can see a small selection of the wonderful photographs taken by Dave Neale this year.
New members are always welcome. We have an open email list so that members can share photographs etc. This means that other members can see your email address. If you would like to join please contact Jill Saunders above. You can ask to be taken off the email list at any time.
If you would like to contribute to the bird sightings list please contact Jill. At October 2020 we had seen between us an amazing 161 species locally and a further 23 on trips away. Jill has started a new list for 2021.
We will keep a close eye on developments and hope to restart our usual meetings as soon as possible. If you click this link you can see our calendar for 2020 which shows you the sort of thing we would have been doing if we could! Maybe next year. Â Birdwatching calendar 2020.
The group was founded over 10 years ago by Hedda Moore who has been the convenor ever since. She brought both knowledge and enthusiasm to the task and we are very sorry that now, March 2021, she is moving away from the area. The good news is that we have two new joint convenors Dave Neale tel 07521 295454 dyneale@googlemail.com and Jill Saunders tel. 01228 530267 jrsaunders56@btinternet.com
We look forward to hearing from you.
