The Architecture Group is now a year old and in that year we have looked at buildings ranging from Cumbrian Vernacular to Arts and Crafts and Church Architecture, visiting examples of the style where possible.
In the best U3A tradition we are a shared learning group, and each member is expected to be an active participant in the projects we undertake.
We meet on the first Friday of the month in the morning, at a pre-arranged venue.

This group meets the third Monday afternoon of each month in members’ homes or nearby venues. The aim is to find out more about local, national and international architecture, including both earlier and contemporary styles. We encourage members to discover for themselves more about locations and individual buildings which interest them, to give talks to the group on their findings and generally to share enthusiasms and expertise. We tend to meet indoors when the weather is less good and to arrange visits for the warmer months when the weather may be more conducive to being outside. There may be scope for joint meetings with the other Architecture groups, particularly to share the cost of an outside speaker and to travel together to sites of particular interest. Currently this group is full and there is a waiting list for new members.
