Archaeology 1 is an established group of enthusiastic non-experts who enjoy learning about all aspects of archaeology. We meet on the second Monday of the month, from September through to June each year.
Our winter meetings take place from 10 – 12 am in the Community Room at the Fire Station on Kemplay Roundabout, CA10 2FA. At these meetings a talk will be given by one or more of our members, or occasionally by an outside speaker.
Summer meetings tend to be an outing to a site of archaeological interest, and can be either a full or half day. For these we try to share cars and therefore the costs.
In keeping with the U3A principle of active learning, members take it in turn to research a topic and then:
- Either give an informal talk to the group. None of us are experts, so we are a very appreciative and non-judgemental audience.
- Or organise a visit to a site of interest.
Communications are by email, and if you have any queries, please get in touch with Linda Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org .
A second Archaeology Group has been set up with a similar rationale to the first. It meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10.00 until 12.00 . Anyone interested in joining should contact Jim Sellars on 01768 362363
