Archaeology 1 is an established group of enthusiastic non-experts who enjoy learning about all aspects of archaeology. We meet on the second Monday of the month, 10 to 12 from September through to June each year.
We are meeting for the first time again on 11th Oct. & we meet in a meeting room at Penrith Leisure Centre & we do have vacancies.
At these meetings a talk will be given by one or more of our members, or occasionally by an outside speaker.
Summer meetings tend to be an outing to a site of archaeological interest, and can be either a full or half day. For these we try to share cars and therefore the costs.
In keeping with the u3a principle of active learning, members take it in turn to research a topic and then:
- Either give an informal talk to the group. None of us are experts, so we are a very appreciative and non-judgemental audience.
- Or organise a visit to a site of interest.
Communications are by email, and if you have any queries, please see above.
Archaeology 2 has been set up with a similar rationale to the first. It meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10.00 until 12.00
We have decided to have a rest over the winter period and resume in Spring of 2022 when we can have a program of visits sorted out.
